She was born in 1980 in Ankara. She completed her higher education at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry, between 1999 and 2004. In 2004, she began her PhD studies at the Department of Oral Diseases and Treatment at the Faculty of Dentistry, Hacettepe University. In 2007, as a visiting researcher and PhD student, she stayed at the Aachen Dental Laser Institute (AALZ) in Germany, where she received training and conducted research on lasers in dentistry. In 2009, she received her doctoral degree, in 2012 she became an Assistant Professor, in 2014 an Associate Professor, and in 2019 she received the title of Professor. In 2019, she was one of the founders of the Doctoral Program in Dental Public Health, which was established under the Hacettepe University Health Sciences Institute. Currently, she is a faculty member at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, the Department of Oral Health Research, and the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases and at the Interprofessional Collaboration and Simulation Center at Hacettepe University. She is also Vice-Director at the Hacettepe University Laser Applications and Research Center in Dentistry and the Hacettepe University Non-Communicable Diseases Prevention Collaboration Practice and Research Center, where she continues her education and research activities. Her clinical and research interests include laser-assisted dental applications, aesthetic dentistry, clinical performance of dental materials, dental public health, minimally invasive dentistry, and teledentistry.
Sustainable Oral Health for Disadvantaged Groups from a Minimal Intervention Perspective
Factors such as childhood, old age, low socioeconomic status, disability, or chronic illness can pose disadvantages in accessing oral health services and effectively managing treatment processes. For disadvantaged individuals, preventive and minimally invasive dental practices are highly effective and sustainable methods for maintaining and treating oral health.
Routine patient monitoring and the family dentistry model offer continuous support in the establishment and maintenance of oral health through preventive and protective approaches. This model aims to create a personalized treatment plan by focusing on the specific needs of individuals based on their disadvantaged status. As a result, the oral health of individuals in disadvantaged groups can be managed more effectively and sustainably. Furthermore, teledentistry applications are an essential tool to be considered for remotely managing the treatment and follow-up processes of these individuals. Through mobile applications and other information technologies, disadvantaged individuals can sustainably receive remote dental services.
In situations where invasive treatments are required, the minimal intervention approach stands out as a core principle for sustainable therapies. In this approach, as few procedures as possible are performed during treatment, tissues are minimally affected, and rehabilitation is carried out using bioactive and tissue-friendly materials when necessary. This way, the likelihood of new issues arising in the long term is reduced, making the individual’s oral health more sustainable.
In conclusion, the minimal intervention perspective and current preventive dentistry strategies provide more effective and sustainable solutions for achieving oral health in disadvantaged groups, thereby improving the quality of life for these populations.
Dr. Derya Germeç Çakan graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1999 and completed her PhD in orthodontics in 2005. Since 2006, she has been working as a Professor at Yeditepe University Department of Orthodontics and maintaining the Craniofacial Orthodontics Clinic. She visited Seattle Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Center as an observer in 2015.
Her principal areas of interest are cleft lip and palate, craniofacial anomalies, and interdisciplinary treatments. She published several clinical and research articles in national and international journals and wrote chapters in Esthetic and Functional Management of Diastema, Springer International Publishing.
She is a member of Turkish and European Orthodontic Society, World Federation of Orthodontists and Turkish Cleft Lip and Palate Association. She served as the President of the Turkish Orthodontic Society and editor-in-chief of Turkish Journal of Orthodontics. She is still serving in the Executive Committee of Turkish Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
Prevention and Treatment of Pathological Oral Habits Causing Malocclusion in Children
The teeth are in equilibrium between the forces exerted by the extraoral muscles and the tongue, forces generated during oral functions, and the stabilization effect of the periodontal tissues. Any external force created by an abnormal oral function may disrupt this equilibrium. Therefore, abnormal oral functions frequently seen in childhood, such as nonnutritive sucking habits or mouth breathing, may play an important role in the development and exacerbation of the malocclusions. Understanding the relationship between pathological oral habits and malocclusion is crucial for developing effective preventive and therapeutic strategies, thereby improving long-term oral health outcomes. Therefore, this lecture will focus on the mechanisms through which these habits influence oral development, including altered muscular forces, skeletal growth modification, dental displacements, and resultant malocclusions in children. The implications of early habit cessation and orthodontic intervention in preventing the progress of the malocclusion will also be explained.

Minimally Invasive Restorations in Anterior Teeth
This presentation will focus on minimally invasive restorative approaches aimed at preserving healthy dental tissue while achieving aesthetic and functional outcomes. Non-prep or less-prep direct composite restorations have emerged as an effective and conservative solution, particularly in young patients and cases involving traumatic fractures. The session will cover the clinical management of anterior tooth fractures using minimally invasive techniques, the treatment protocol of white spot lesions with resin infiltration, and the use of microabrasion in addressing enamel surface defects. Through clinical cases and current literature insights, this presentation aims to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and confidence to integrate these techniques into their daily practice in a predictable and efficient manner.

Conquering the Alpha Generation Behavior Metaverse
Dentistry has come a long way with respect to new inventions, materials and techniques, however anxiety and fear of a child related to dental treatment still remains an enigma. Non-pharmacologic behavior management techniques which still remains the ever popular choice of Pediatric Dentists all over the world have been modified in recent years innumerable number of times. But the current alpha generation is the most typical of generations in recent times showing abstract attitudes and a multitude of behaviors. They typically live in a different world and we have to enter their alternate realities to conquer their fears and anxiety. This lecture will highlight on various behaviour management techniques and their modifications that specifically caters to the need of Alpha generation kids and to help the practitioners in selecting the most appropriate individualized plans to ensure a positive attitude and better quality of treatment.

MTA in Clinical Practice
Endodontic and restorative treatments are among the most frequently performed procedures in modern dentistry. However, complex cases such as pulp perforations, the treatment of teeth with open apex, and perforation management cannot always be effectively resolved using traditional restorative and endodontic approaches. At this point, Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) emerges as a game-changing material in clinical practice.
In this presentation, we will explore in detail how MTA can be used more effectively in vital pulp treatments and endodontic procedures, which are commonly encountered in restorative applications. Alternative solutions offered by MTA for cases where standard treatment protocols fail to yield successful outcomes will be demonstrated through high-resolution videos and images captured with a dental operating microscope. Additionally, clinical applications supported by the latest scientific literature on MTA use will be shared, and case-based evaluations will be conducted.

Clinical Practice Guidelines on Pulp Therapies in Primary Teeth
Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines are based on well-done systematic reviews while assessing the certainty of evidence and balancing benefits and harms to patients’ values and preferences. Such guidelines are considered trustworthy and can be used by the clinicians to provide the highest quality patient-centered care in their practices. The AAPD published a clinical practice guideline on primary teeth non-vital pulp therapies in 2020, an updated clinical practice guideline on primary teeth vital pulp therapies in 2024 and is developing a permanent tooth vital pulp guideline. This session will explain AAPD’s pulp therapy guidelines from a clinician’s perspective and evaluate in-depth the basis and interpretation of the evidence-based findings for vital and non-vital pulp therapies in teeth.

Sergio Uribe is an Associate Professor at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Oral Health, Riga Stradins University, Riga, Latvia, and a Visiting Professor at LMU Klinikum, LMU, Munich, Germany. He holds a DDS, is a Specialist in Maxillofacial Radiology (MSc), and has a Ph.D. Since 2000, he has been a professor in the Postgraduate Course in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Valparaíso, Chile. During 2022-23, he was a visiting researcher at the Dental School of Health, Cardiff University, Wales.
His research interests include diagnostic imaging, cariology, artificial intelligence, meta-research, implementation research and dental education. Prof. Uribe serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Dental Research and the Dental Traumatology Journal. In 2007, the International Dental Association in New Orleans, USA, awarded him the Research in Prevention Award.

An exploration of AI applications in pediatric dentistry, their benefits, and the challenges of clinical implementation.
AI is everywhere, but what is its potential for pediatric dentistry? How does it work, and what are its advantages and limitations? In this lecture, we will explore AI-driven diagnostic tools, such as deep learning models for caries detection and their role in assisting pediatric dentists in clinical decision-making. We will also discuss the growing availability of open dental image datasets for AI training and their potential to improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning. However, despite its potential, AI comes with challenges, including bias, ethical concerns, and what kind of research is needed for its clinical application.
Dr. Taha Özyürek graduated from Atatürk University Faculty of Dentistry in 2010 and completed his PhD in Endodontics at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 2015. Until 2018, he worked as a full-time research assistant at the same university, after which he served as the Head of the Endodontics Department at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Dentistry. Since 2021, he has been a Professor and Head of the Endodontics Department at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Dentistry. He also holds the roles of Director of the Continuing Education Program and Director of the Research Laboratory at the same institution.
Dr. Özyürek’s research primarily focuses on the mechanical properties of nickel-titanium files and endodontic irrigation techniques. He has published over 100 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals on these topics. Since 2020, he has been listed among the "World’s Most Influential Scientists" by Stanford University. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals such as the Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal, and Australian Endodontic Journal.
He is the designer of the T-endo MUST and MIS files, which are patented and globally distributed products manufactured in Turkey. He works as the Research and Development Director at Öncü Dental, the company producing these instruments.
Dr. Özyürek regularly lectures and conducts hands-on courses in multiple countries. He is a member of the Turkish Dental Association (TDB), Turkish Endodontic Society (TED), and the European Society of Endodontology (ESE).
The Power of Laser in Pediatric Endodontics: Pulp Preservation and Disinfection
Minimally invasive approaches are becoming increasingly vital in both pediatric and general endodontic cases. Laser technology plays a crucial role in preserving pulp tissue during vital pulp therapy while also improving the disinfection of infected root canals. The biostimulation effect of lasers can speed up tissue healing and lower bacterial load, ultimately enhancing treatment success. In particular, using lasers in vital pulp therapies for pediatric patients and young permanent teeth provides better biocompatibility and healing potential compared to traditional methods. This presentation will examine the clinical applications of laser-assisted endodontic treatments in both pediatric and adult cases, focusing on its role in vital pulp therapy, its benefits, and its evidence-based effectiveness.
Sinem Ceylanoğlu graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2002 with the first degree. In the same year, she started her doctorate and specialty education in Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics. In 2008, she received the title of Phd and specialist in Orthodontics. Since this date, she continues her profession as an Orthodontist in Allianoi Oral and Dental Health Clinics.
Sinem Ceylanoğlu has focused her clinical and academic studies on clear aligner treatments in recent years and has an experience of treating more than 2000 clear aligner cases.
She has been an Invisalign Clinical Speaker and has been giving lectures on domestic and foreign educational platforms since 2020.
She is a visiting lecturer at Okan University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics since 2022.
Orthodontic Approaches in the Digital Age
Developments in today's technology have also brought digital transformation to the the field of dentistry. Thanks to the digital transformations in our clinical practice, we can add different dimensions to the treatments of our patients of all ages.
In the field of orthodontics, we increase the interest and motivation of our little patients during their first visit by showing them how their teeth will look like at the end of the treatment, while taking their impressions and records with effortless and fast methods and sharing the results of different treatment plans.
Using virtual care features, we can even follow up on the treatments of our patients before they come to the clinic.
In addition to the visuals provided by the software, the innovations we have achieved in the production processes of orthodontic appliances enable our patients in their adolescence to access much more aesthetic and comfortable treatments.
With treatment plans and follow-up systems that integrate clinical experience and digital innovations, we can successfully reduce the need for comprehensive orthodontic treatment at older ages with early orthodontic intervention.

Esthetic restorations in pediatric dentistry
Every day, we treat preschool patients with early childhood caries. Currently, we face parents who demand highly aesthetic restorations, especially in the upper incisors. Vital pulp therapy with bioactive materials has revolutionized the way we restore, allowing us to offer more conservative treatments with better prognoses, making dentistry more biological and simpler. In this lecture, we will review clinical cases of various common situations in our daily practice. Various restorative materials will be discussed.
Minimally invasive management of enamel opacities, microabrasion and enamel infiltration
The management of enamel opacities is a real challenge for the Dentists. Enamel opacities ranging from white, cream-colored spots to dark opacities with loss of dental structure are frequently associated with developmental defects of enamel, the most frequent being Molar Incisor Hypomineralization. Different treatment alternatives have been proposed, including composite restorations, enamel microabrasion and, more recently, enamel infiltration, the latter with various advantages among which we can mention the ability to protect the affected enamel, "masking" the lesions and returning the natural appearance of healthy enamel.
Sometimes these defects in enamel development are also associated with post-eruptive breakdown, making it necessary to restore it with adhesive materials. In this presentation we will review some important aspects related to adhesion to hypomineralized enamel as well as enamel infiltration as strategy to solve adhesive failures related to the affected enamel.
